Halloween season is here and we're ready to crave our pumpkins we picked at the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch was more than just picking pumpkins, we saw reptiles including a big snake, farm animals and rode on a hay ride.

Atlanta Zoo Visit

We visited the zoo a couple weeks ago and had an amazing time! The boys really enjoyed the train, petting zoo and playground. We're still working on getting them to enjoy the Merry Go Round. ;)

Cameron is so excited about going to the potty. His new room at school has began teaching them how to go to the potty. Cameron has definitely caught on quick. The other night within 2 minutes of sitting him on the potty before bed time, we heard him saying "Yay!" and applauding himself.....and sure enough he had gone potty. We were so proud!

Where did it go??

Where did the time go??? The boys will be 2 years old in less than 3 months, and I can't help but to ask myself where did the time go?! The last three years have gone by faster than I feel my entire adult life has gone. I have seen these boys develop from being inside of me to who they are today, and it's amazing. I've always heard people say enjoy the time you have with them, it goes fast....but never did I imagine this fast. So, who are the boys today. I'll try my best to describe them both

Caleb is a very intuitive thinker. Caleb thinks about EVERYTHING. He's less likely to just jump off the bed before analyzing just how to do so and what might happen when he does. He is a calm mannered toddler, that is until you disrupt HIS plan, whether that means taking a toy, touching his food or even changing his routine. Caleb is not a big talker, but he talks when he wants to. He says BuBye, Choo Choo, Woo, Da Da Dora, Go and a couple more words. He loves to color, so much so each time the crayons are put up, he is very unhappy. Caleb is not a good eater, however you wouldn't know it by the looks of it. And just recently, Caleb has decided he loves to dance. He is definitely a unique toddler and a future engineer, who we can later say he never played with toys to play but more so to determine how they work.

Cameron is a happy toddler. When you see Cammy, he'll definitely be smiling or laughing. He loves to play with his toys, color and watch videos. But please do not interrupt him during his favorite ones, like Nemo, Dora or Dr. Seuss. Cameron NEVER stops moving, not even when he is sleeping. If I could only have 25% of his energy I would be great. Cameron on the other hand is a pretty big talker, compared to Caleb. Cameron says: mama, dada, hi, bubye, up, down, nite nite, Da Da Dora, Fall, Uh Oh, and MANY more. He's also a good eater, and by the looks of it you wouldn't be able to tell. He loves MEAT and well, crackers! Cameron reminds me everyday that I definitely have boys, he has learned to love to play fight with everyone including his brother. Cameron will definitely keep life exciting and not let us rest.

Both the boys love to sing and dance to Row Row, Row Your Boat and Ring around the roses.

I think about the people they have begun and I'm just in awww of how God blesses us with the ability to reproduce such amazing lives. I can never thank God enough for these two amazing little boys. I can't even imagine my life without them, well that is except until they are off to college, and yes I'm already thinking about that........but not rushing it, I'm enjoying the time, but boy is it flying!!

Taste of Atlanta - The World of Coca-Cola

We had our first "taste" of Atlanta last weekend at The World of Coke. They start the the visit off with a introduction of the history of Coca Cola and a quiz of the audience. Then they direct you into a theatre where they show a cartoon of what goes on inside of a Coke machine. The boys enjoyed it, that was until Caleb fell asleep and let's just say he stayed sleep for the remainder of the visit. So, Cameron, Daddy and I enjoyed exploring the World of Coke. Cameron even got to take a picture with The Cola Bear.....well, not exactly, he got up only seconds after sitting down. But I was able to snap the quick shot above. We ended the visiting by tasting several different Coke products from around the world (Asia, Africa, Europe, etc.). That was interesting to learn all the different tastes. We enjoyed our adventure and checked another thing of the "Welcome to Atlanta" list. Slowly but surely we're making it our home!

What Happens Here, Stays Here....

A recent visit to our home away from home left us relaxed and rejuvenated (it was a business trip for Michael). We left the boys behind with their grandparents and got back to the basics! I had a trip filled with R&R, including reading (which I rarely get to do), a wonderful trip to the spa, a Pilates class and NO real agenda. While Michael soaked up all the knowledge he could at The Affiliate Summit Conference. It was a good time. Now back to reality......

From Our House to Yours - Happy Holidays!

The holiday season is at it's peek and we want to wish all of you a happy holidays. We finally have our tree and decorations up, and we are in the Christmas spirit. Last year was the boys first official Christmas, but they were too young to really do anything, so we had a nice quiet day as a family and relaxed. We're all pretty excited about this Christmas, the boys still don't fully understand the concept, but they definitely show joy and excitement which will be fun to see. This year will begin our Watson family traditions. We plan to sleep in as a family (probably all in mom and dads bed), wake up to open the boys gifts while Dad video tapes the ripping of the paper and exciting or curious expressions, we will have a big breakfast/brunch, relax and watch Christmas movies or cartoons, of course play and if it's warm enough we'll plan to go to the playground. It will be a nice, fun and relaxing day in the Watson household and we look forward to it.

We definitely look back on the days of spending Christmas in St. Louis or Kansas City and remember all of the fun memories we have. Having your own family is exciting, but different because now it's up to you to build those fun memories and traditions and take a step back from what you have always known. At times it's a little scary wandering if you are doing all that you really should or want to, but in time we will grow and change as a family and that's the fun of it all. Our traditions include: video taping the opening or presents and Christmas morning, have a big breakfast/brunch, always spending the holidays in our house, as the boys get older discussing the meaning of each holiday that day with some bible study and I'm sure many more to come. So, as we approach this Christmas, we are excited about the traditions and memories we are developing with our family......the ones our kids will look back on and say, "wow, I remember when!"

The Big Chop

Since before the boys were born, we had made the decision that we wouldn't do the traditional 12 month old haircut. We would allow the boys hair to grow. We never really had a plan for it. Recently, since it had gotten so long, I had tried everything to find what products work best in their hair. While in the background Michael would constantly say, "their boys, they don't need anything in their head." And while I knew that wasn't true, I also began to feel like too much energy was being put into these little boys head. I mean they are boys, NOT girls. Boys aren't supposed to be so high maintenance (physically)!! So, I'd been going back in forth about weather to cut it or not. It wasn't until Saturday (11/14) during our walk in Stone Mountain when I made the official decision. I looked down into the strollers and looked at Michael and said......"let's cut their hair today." So, that's how the big chop came about. Caleb and Cameron now officially have their big boy haircuts, to match their big boy mannerisms.

Ok, so it's been about 17 months since I have blogged anything on this site, and probably 16 months since I've even visited. Let's just say life has been pretty hectic. The boys definitely keep us busy. Well, I have decided to start blogging again and sharing the joys of life and motherhood with you all.

So, since the last time the boys have really developed into two little boys, and they are definitely a bundle of joy and a ton of work. A LOT has changed since my last post, and I mean a LOT! We relocated from the Chicagoland area to the Atlanta area, I began working for a new company (H.C. Brill - a Bakery), the boys have completely progressed and turned 1, the boys started daycare are 6 months, we purchased a new home in Conyers, GA and we have joined a new church family (New Bethel AME in Lithonia, GA). So, needless to say, I've missed a lot of blogging opportunities, but I plan to get back to it.

A little update:

Caleb is weighing in around 22 lbs, and very healthy. He is a rapid crawler and will walk along anything he can hold on to, but is showing very little desire to walk without your hand or another support. He babbles quite a bit, but his brother still takes the cake on that one. Caleb's favorite thing to do right now is to play hide and seek with you and tickle you and force you to think it's funny (thanks to Pops for starting that!). He has definitely developed his little personality. He is extremely persistent, knows what he wants and isn't afraid to tell you he is disappointed in you for not giving in to whatever it may be. On the other hand, he is a be cuddlier. He loves to hug you and be close, he is really in tune with his emotions.

Cameron is slowly but surely catching up with his brother weighing in just under 21 lbs and very healthy as well. Back in July Cameron underwent a outpatient surgery to get tubes placed in his ears and his Adenoids removed. Everything went well, and the procedure has definitely helped his sleeping, breathing and congestion. Me on the other hand was a nervous wreck during that time. But it was well worth it. Cameron is a walker. Yes, he is walking and that is his preferred method of transportation. He's a little slow right now, but each day gets faster....I'm fearful of the running days. Cameron is a very independent child and can play by himself without a problem. He does not get attached to 'things,' which sometimes creates a bully in him because he thinks it's no big deal to take things from everyone else (Caleb can vouch to this). He is a smiler and a talker.......oh yeah, and he is beginning to love to throw things, and that's all things....lol.

I know there is a lot more to catch up on, but it will be a progress. My goal is to update this weekly and hopefully include a picture or video. Stay tuned.

Welcoming our New Additions - Birth Story

Caleb Michael Watson and Cameron Michael Watson

On June 12, 2008 at 9:27pm and 9:29pm respectively they made us the proudest parents in the world.

Our Birth Story:

Ok, so finally I have gotten a free moment to write my birth story. Well, it started last week (June 6th) after being admitted to the hospital for contractions and an open cervix (dilated 3 cm). I was then released from the hospital last Tuesday and told to be on strict bedrest at home and return to the doctor for a follow up visit on Thursday. During the visit the NST showed several contractions that I was not feeling (starting at about 1 every 2 minutes). I then was checked and my cervix was more dilated at 4cm and I was 100% effaced……so the decision was made to admit me, and keep me there until delivery. At this point I was only 31 weeks and 5 days……and nervous as heck about delivery my babies so early. After several attempts the previous week and at this visit to try and stop my labor, the doctor decided to let the body do what it needed to. As the night progressed the contractions got much worse and I began to feel them. They got to a point where they were unbearable and coming about very 5 seconds or so. I had planned to try a vaginal birth, but at 4cm my cervix stopped progressing, and before my eyes the doctor came in and said we have to go to OR and perform a C-Section. It all happened so fast I didn’t know what to think. In less than 30 minutes we were in the OR and had begun bringing my angels into the world. All I remember is thinking how wonderful my husband was and how supportive he had been through this entire time.....he's such a wonderful blessing and my children couldn't have a better father.

On June 12, 2008 at 9:27pm Caleb Michael Watson entered this world kicking and screaming, and most importantly breathing on his own! Just two minutes later at 9:29pm Cameron Michael Watson came out and was not screaming as loud and needed a little breathing assistance, which he only stayed on for 24 hours. Caleb weighed 3lbs 14.5oz and Cameron weighed 3lbs 10.5oz. Both Caleb and Cameron are now in NICU and doing very well. They are both breathing on their own (thank God for the steroid injections and God’s continued blessings), being fed through a tube and ready to begin the process of exploring to eat and gain weight. We are very happy and couldn’t imagine life without our little ones. I know my story isn’t the ideal. Yes, I would have liked to keep them inside for a few more weeks at least, but God had a different plan, and I'm so glad we stop worrying, started praying and left it in his hands!

Work Baby Shower - What a surprise

Evelyn's job was so nice and through a wonderful surprise baby shower, and even more of a surprise was they arranged for Michael to come into the plant for the shower, which was totally unexpected. Michael did a great job of keeping it a secret. After several attempts to reach Michael calling from different unknown numbers, they stole my cell phone off my desk and called him from that.....and of course he answered. It really was a great time. Now that we have all of our showers over, reality is surely hitting us, the boys are on their way. We're getting ready and we have been so blessed to have so many supportive people. Definitely have to say thank you to my wonderful co-workers for caring so much to throw this shower......especially Ariane, Erica, Wendi, Val and Sharon.

The Nursery

The nursery is coming along. Michael spent many long nights painting, putting boarder up and furniture together and now we are almost there. The theme of the nursery is sailboats. It's not completely ready for the arrival of the boys, but each day we're getting closer and closer. Now it's just a matter of getting ALL of their clothes washed and in place. I think they are getting to the point where they will be taking up more closet space then us.......that is thanks to our loving family and friends. ;)

Preparing for The Boys

Time is truly flying quickly. Our showers have come and gone, and we had a fabulous time at both of them. We thank our parents and Kristol for making them a huge success. We are so blessed to be surrounded by so many supporting family and friends and thank you all for your prayers, support and gifts of love as we prepare for our little ones. This has been the first week without our first "Baby (the dog)," and it's been an adjustment period for Evelyn, but given us the time to continue preparing the nursery and ourselves for their arrival. The nursery is about 80% complete, our goal is to have it complete within the next two weeks. We'll be posting pictures soon. I think we have over 500 diapers, enough for a week or so. ;) And we also have most of the important items purchased and assembled. One more month of working for the both of us, and then it's time to give quality time to the new joys of our world. I know many people weren't able to make it to the showers, and have been wanting to see updated pictures of the belly which I hope to post this weekend. As time continues to go, we'll make sure to keep you posted with pictures of the belly, nursery and one day soon (hopefully not too soon).....the boys!
